The SL191 showing area is underlain by Eocene to Oligocene Ootsa Lake Formation (Nechako Plateau Group) (previously the Ootsa Lake Group).

In 2011, Kootenay Gold Inc collected 15 samples at one local on the Silver Lake claims. Most samples were significantly elevated in gold and silver but much less so than sample SAK11-191 which assayed, 2.26 grams per tonne gold and 211 grams per tonne silver and 0.089 per cent lead (Assessment Report 32585). This sample was described as brecciated rhyolite with micro veins and limonite staining and silica. Prospecting and rock geochemistry on the Silver Lake Property was reported to have led to the discovery of a large structurally controlled alteration zone.

In 2015 and 2016, DeCoors Mining Corp. completed a rock geochemical survey on the property containing the occurrence. Highlighted samples around the occurrence included quartz rhyolite sample 2577, which graded 0.49 grams per tonne gold and 3.36 grams per tonne silver, and rhyolite sample 2578, which graded 2.41 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 36696).
